The next legislative session occurs January 2009. This
website will be updated Fall 2008 and will continue throughout the legislative session and beyond.
Betty's updates, paid for with taxpayer dollars, have been few and far between since the Republican
primary. Updates here, once they commence, will be consistent, and I can promise you that they won't cost you a
dime.
If this is your first time at the website, feel free to look around.
The information contained here is documented, and I hope you find it informative.

Betty Brown has represented
District 4 (currently Henderson and Kaufman counties) since
1998.
Betty's
record
*voted to approve the Trans-Texas Corridor
*claimed she had helped reduce property taxes
by one-third; eight days later, admitted "overall property tax bills" would not "necessarily" be reduced
*voted to create the Texas Residential Construction Commission; took more than $60,000 in campaign contributions
from homebuilders who supported the commission
*voted for what she called "the largest property tax cut in
Texas history"; conservative groups called it a "hidden income tax" and a "virtual income tax"
*has taken more than $130,000 from lobbyists and PAC's since 2006, none of which are based in Henderson or Kaufman
counties
*voted to create the Texas Enterprise Fund, which takes taxpayer dollars and gives them to corporations
*voted to cut the Children's Health Insurance Program, saying it would save taxpayers money. Four years
later, she voted to increase funding for that same program, saying again it would save taxpayers money
*in 1996,
Betty said she was for term limits. After five terms in office, she is currently asking voters for a sixth go-around, despite
what she promised in 1996. Click below to read Betty's Broken Promise.
